WORSHIP
Although the church building is closed for a summer break, it doesn’t mean your faith has to take a vacation. God is wonderfully portable.
Prayer is the easiest way to stay connected. You don’t need stained glass, a choir, or even pants with a zipper. A quiet moment in your kitchen, a whispered prayer before bed, or a heartfelt “Lord, help me” when you open your email inbox all count. Scripture reading works anywhere too. Pull out your Bible or open an app. If your mind wanders halfway through a verse, just read it again—consider it bonus devotion.
Worship can happen right at home. Sing along to hymns or worship songs, even if your only audience is the dog, who thinks you’re amazing no matter what key you’re in. You can also join online services, watch a past Mayfield You Tube video, or listen to a sermon while folding laundry. Multitasking for Jesus.
Looking for fellowship? Zoom Meeting ID: 802 894 930 Passcode: 647487 is available at 10.15 every Sunday morning on an unstructured, ‘drop in’ basis. You can either take a chance that there will be others online or arrange in advance to meet your friends.
Acts of kindness are another way to keep your faith active. Call someone who’s lonely, drop off a meal, or send a message of encouragement. Small gestures ripple outward in ways we may never fully see. Kindness reminds us that we’re connected, that our choices matter, and that compassion is a strength we can practice.
And don’t forget reflection. Journaling, gratitude lists, or simply sitting quietly with God can be surprisingly powerful. Some of the best spiritual moments happen without bulletins or pews.
Being away from church doesn’t mean stepping away from your faith. It just means practicing it in new places—your living room, your car, your backyard, or wherever life has temporarily parked you. God meets you there, no reservation required.
